How does this fit in with my GP?
Your GP will need to know if I prescribe any medication for you, and before doing so I might need to liaise with them about your relevant medical history.
Otherwise, its up to you if you want your GP, or anyone else, to know about your treatment or not.
Does it work?
Research on Home Detox shows that the majority of people improve physically and psychologically after detox.
Inevitably, some people do relapse during or after detox for a number of reasons. Around a third of people will remain abstinent from alcohol at least six months after a detox 1.
You can increase this percentage dramatically by making sure you've planned what you'll do afterwards sensibly and realistically, and involve family and friends in your plans.
For my part, studies show that the best treatments are appropriate, professional and structured, by people who are respectful and engage with the client and their family warmly2. So thats exactly what I try my best to do.
How do I know if I've got a drink problem?
There are myriad ways of telling if you have a drink problem.
One of the most respected ways is by using the AUDIT questionairre - which you can try here (opens in new window)
Do I need a detox?
It needs a specialist consultation to really determine whether you need a detox.
As a rule of thumb, if you start shaking, sweating or vomiting without a drink, then you probably do.
Does my health insurance cover this treatment?
It might do - its best to contact your insurance company to find out details of your cover.
How quickly can you help me?
I can usually offer a full assessment within the week, more often within a day or two.
Can you see me anywhere else apart from my home?
I can see you at rooms in South Molton if you'd prefer.
