My name is Mark Jay. I'm a Clinical Nurse Specialist in addiction, with many years experience of helping problem and dependent drinkers in the NHS. I'm also qualified as an Independent Prescriber.
Devon Home Detox is my private practice, where I can give anyone looking for help with their alcohol problem a more flexible and personalised service.
I am happy to travel to see clients not just in Devon, but in Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset, Bristol and anywhere in the South-West. I can also see you in rooms in South Molton.
My service is suitable for anyone who's worried that they're drinking too much and wants to stop, as well as those who can't stop drinking without a medicated detox.
I offer everyone a free initial telephone consultation.
After that, if we agree to work together, I'll visit you to assess what you need in more detail.
If you need it, I can give you a home detox with medication, usually very quickly.
You will need to plan stopping drinking alcohol carefully before your detoxification - I offer counselling & psychological help to help you decide what to do, and to make sure that you have the best chance of success.
Once you're dry, I can give follow up & aftercare either in person or over the telephone, to increase the odds of you staying sober.
If you don't need a detox, but want advice and support about stopping drinking, I can guide you in how and when to stop, and how to improve your chances of staying sober.
Many people find it useful to include their partner in their treatment - I'm happy to see couples and families where one or more members' drinking has become problematic.
If you just want general information, guidance &
advice about alcohol, or using other alcohol services - whether public or private - I'm
happy to oblige.
Many of my clients have appreciated having an alternative to Alcoholics Anonymous, private counsellors, NHS waiting lists & Residential Rehab. Others choose to work with me and still use some of these services. Its up to you!
